Transparency Today, Trust Tomorrow: Beverly Biggs-Leavy’s Commitment to Accountability
Beverly Biggs-Leavy, a proud candidate for Flint’s 3rd Ward City Council, knows that trust begins with transparency. Flint has faced its share of challenges, and one of the biggest is the lack of accountability and honesty from local leadership. Beverly believes that without open communication and true representation, residents lose trust in their elected officials. Her mission is to restore that trust by making transparency the foundation of her work in City Hall.
Beverly’s slogan, “Transparency Today, Trust Tomorrow,” reflects her promise to be a leader who is not just present, but actively engaged and accountable to the people of Flint.
She knows that transparency is not just about words—it’s about action. For too long, Flint’s residents have witnessed corrupt politicians making decisions behind closed doors, taking actions that benefit a select few rather than the community as a whole. Beverly vows to change this.
Here’s how she plans to ensure transparency at every level of city government:
1. Public Access to Information: Beverly is committed to making all city government actions, decisions, and financial records easily accessible to the public. This includes regular updates on the use of taxpayer dollars, funding for public projects, and detailed meeting minutes so residents know exactly what their leaders are doing.
2. Open Council Meetings: Beverly plans to champion legislation that ensures all council meetings are open to the public, both in-person and through live streaming options, allowing for greater participation from residents who want to stay informed but may not be able to attend.
3. Regular Town Halls and Public Forums: Beverly will hold regular town hall meetings to listen to the concerns of 3rd Ward residents, answer their questions, and ensure their voices are heard. These forums will provide a space for honest dialogue and help her stay in touch with the real issues affecting the community.
4. Community-Driven Decision Making: Beverly believes that transparency goes hand in hand with giving power back to the people. She will create opportunities for residents to have a say in how their community is run, whether through surveys, community boards, or advisory councils.
5. Fighting Corruption: Beverly is determined to root out corruption in City Hall. As the only African-American woman in Flint’s history to successfully recall two city council members, One of which is the 3rd Ward’s Seat, she has already proven that she has the strength and determination to take on unethical leaders and hold them accountable. She will continue this fight on behalf of all Flint residents.
Flint deserves leadership that is committed to openness and honesty. Beverly Biggs-Leavy is running to bring integrity back to the 3rd Ward, and she believes that by fostering transparency today, the community can build trust for tomorrow. Together, Flint can move forward with confidence in a government that truly works for the people.
